Conversations with Gibran (2007)

indexPage

This html document follows a conversation between Gibran Khalil Gibran and myself. When the viewer initially accepts to “get a peak” at the conversation, the piece places the viewer during a chat session as words are being typed. From the discussion, the viewer can tell that the two know each other. Gibran, who lived in the late 19th century and early 20th century, uses chat lingo. Once a conversation is over, the viewer can navigate back in time to see older chats: one held a week earlier, a month earlier and a year earlier, when the two first e-met. Through the discussions, the viewer finds out that Gibran was working on “The Prophet.” This speculative conversation navigates fiction and html chat messengers in order to create a narrative across time.
